Those who have successfully fought for their Post Office should not rest as Liberal Democrats in South East Cambridgeshire are predicting another round of Post Office closures after the Post Office Account Card ceases in 2010 unless the Government allows Post Offices to develop their services.

Liberal Democrats have pointed to the fact that eleven Tory MPs including David Cameron failed to turn up for their own crucial Opposition Day Motion vote on current Post Office closures ensuring the Government won the day despite a rebellion by Labour MPs.

On Monday July 7 Foreign Secretary David Miliband will visit South Africa to discuss Zimbabwe but Liberal Democrats say so far our Government's response has been all talk and no action apart from belatedly stripping Robert Mugabe of his knighthood after yet another U turn by the Prime Minister.

Cycling in South East Cambs is Pitiful Say Lib Dems

There may be nine million bicycles in Beijing but with the start of Bike Week this Saturday there are pitifully few being used in South East Cambridgeshire according to the Liberal Democrats who blame a lack of facilities, speeding traffic and heavy lorries for putting people off cycling in the constituency.

Anti-social behaviour still a problem

The increased police presence has had an impact on anti-social behaviour (ASB) in our villages over recent weeks. But it remains a persistent problem: mini motorcycles speeding on footways in Arbury Park, along the Guided Busway, and around Impington Lakes; alcohol-fuelled ASB in the Meadows by a small number of youths. These can all contribute to a growing fear of going out at night.
