Save Linton Police Station!5.24.36pm GMT Sat 29th Nov 2008
Cambridgeshire Police Authority has admitted it has agreed to sell off Linton police station for housing County Councillor John Batchelor reports: "The first anyone knew of this plan was when it appeared in the local paper. There was no consultation at all." Secret plans "The Police Authority worked out these proposals in secret. They left the village completely in the dark. Now, the Authority is trying to present us with a done deal. It's completely unacceptable. I am seeking an urgent meeting with the Chairman of the Police Authority. Relocation- but what, and where? "They say they want to relocate the police station elsewhere in the village. However, it's clear what they plan is something totally different to a police station. It would be a "shared presence", in a building used for other activities. They say they can stay at the present police station for 12 months- but what happens if they can't find a suitable site? Campaign to save the police station "The police station is a vital asset for our community. It is where local beat bobbie Rebecca Parkin and our local Police Community Officers are stationed. They need a proper base."
