Lib Dems want better pavements and more consideration for wheelchair users

9.48.33am UTC (GMT +0000) Sun 20th Apr 2008

Local Liberal Democrats have joined forces with disabled campaigners in calling for better access arrangements within Histon and Impington.

Candidate Vanessa Kelly met with local Impington resident Shirley Jarman to hear first hand of the difficulties faced on a daily basis.

"Two messages came over loud and clear" explained Vanessa. "First we must put pressure on the County Council to improve the state of the pavements and dropped kerbs. Second, we all have a responsibility not to block the pavements with our cars or wheelie bins. When this happens it creates huge problems for those in wheelchairs or for people pushing prams. We should all think about the impact our actions have on other people in our community".
