County Council drops to 2 in its Corporate Assessment12.01.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 16th Oct 2007 Cambridgeshire County Council has been rated as performing 'at only minimum requirements' according to the Audit Commission's assessment released today. The Audit Commission's Corporate Assessment of Cambridgeshire County Council gave the council a rating of only 2 out of 4 overall. The council rated a 2 for three of five themes: ambition, prioritisation and performance management. Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, Councillor David Jenkins, commented: "This independent assessment describes the County Council as performing at only minimum standards, falling from a rating of 4 to a rating of just 2 this year. "The current cabinet cannot distance themselves from this report - most of the cabinet were senior members of the Council's leadership discussed in the Audit Commission's report. "It's particularly disappointing that the Council's ambition for the county was rated so poorly. Cambridgeshire is undergoing great growth and now is the time for ambition. This assessment confirms our earlier observation that this Council's leadership struggles with the big issues relating to vision and strategy."
