A hotel for Roswell Pits?6.35.04pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 5th Sep 2007
Ely Liberal Democrats have today demanded that the owner of Roswell Pits submit a planning application detailing his plans for the site after it emerged that significant building development could be proposed for the popular wildlife area. In an interview with the owner of Roswell Pits in this month's Great Ouse Boating Association (GOBA) magazine, it is stated that: "A commercial development consisting of a hotel/business centre and amenity could be provided." Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson Jonathan Chatfield said: "It is time for Mr Tyrrell to come clean about what he plans for the site." "Local people have been waiting months for a planning application that has still not materialised for the work that has already been carried out at the site.' "Now it appears that more extensive building work is planned, work that could seriously harm wildlife and spoil the beauty of the area."
