SPEAK OUT ON BUS SERVICES

6.41.03pm UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 10th Aug 2007

Cambridgeshire Lib Dems are encouraging residents to give their views on county bus services.

The survey, initiated by Cambridgeshire County Council, follows news that the County was rated bottom in the country for bus satisfaction in an independent Audit Commission survey. Lib Dem Shadow Cabinet Member for Transport, Judy Broadway, commented:

"A regular and reliable bus system is crucial if we are to persuade more people in Cambridgeshire out of their cars and on to public transport. However at the moment there are villages which see only one bus per week and others where the bus service is so unreliable that residents would not consider using it to travel to work.

"I would encourage everyone to fill out this survey and let the County Council know their views on local bus services. What works? What needs improvement? What discourages you from using the bus? We all need to demand a better bus service for Cambridgeshire."
