Crossing the High Street is difficult for the elderly and those with young children, hopefully the pedestrian crossing will make this easier

Waterbeach is at last to get a pedestrian crossing, after much hard work by the Parish Council and Jane Williamson in her time as District Councillor.

It is hoped that this will provide a safer crossing point for residents of the Waddelow Road-Denson Close area of the village.

Jane said "I am very pleased that there will finally be a safe place to cross on the High Street, especially for the elderly and those with children. I will continue to fight for safe places to cross in the rest of the village."

Crossing outside the school is also to become safer for local children.

Following action by Michael and Jane Williamson, and a local petition, waiting is now restricted outside Waterbeach School.

County Councillor Michael Williamson said "The waiting restrictions will increase visibility for the School Crossing Patrol and will hopefully make travelling to school safer for local children"

As acting Chair of Governors at the school, Jane Williamson is continuing to press for the promised dropped kerbs. Ultimately she would like to see a better marked crossing to ensure that the safety of pedestrians is prioritised.
