Trisha Bear, Working Hard All Year Round, Not Just At Election Time.
Trisha Bear is asking you to support her in her bid to be re-elected to the Council.
"Since you first elected me as your District Councillor in 2006, I have done my best to promote the interests of Linton, Bartlow and Hildersham and everyone who lives here.
Many of you already knew me, from the years I've lived in Linton and the organisations I've been involved with. Becoming your councillor has given me the opportunity to get to know even more people well and find out what they want the Council to do for them.
The last four years have been a mixture of satisfaction, when I've been able to achieve things for local residents, and frustration, when organisations like the District Council refuse to listen. But I keep on trying, and persistence often brings eventual success.
I have worked hard, as a member of the Planning Committee, and on housing issues, community projects and rubbish and recycling collections, all practical issues that affect life in our villages now and in the future.
After careful investigation, I voted and campaigned against the wind farm. John Batchelor and I helped persuade the Planning Committee to turn it down unanimously. Getting everyone to agree was important in showing local resolve.
I also spoke out at the public inquiry in February. The evidence at the inquiry about its impact on the local landscape, our villages, and air traffic safety has shown how damaging the wind farm would be. More evidence on issues like noise will be heard when the Inquiry resumes in September. This is a continuing battle.
Working part-time at Addenbrookes leaves me with the time and energy to serve you on the Council- and gives me first hand insight into the task of making a big organisation work well. My experience over the last four years is that the Conservatives on the District Council are simply not up to the job. Please support me, so that I can work as part of the Liberal Democrat group to sort the District Council out and get you a better deal.
