Julian Huppert is calling for an Inquiry into the Guided Bus Fiasco
Liberal Democrats are to call for a public inquiry into the Guided Bus fiasco.
They are demanding a thorough investigation into the project which is two years late and seriously over budget.
Julian Huppert. Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Cambridge, who voted against the Guided Bus from the outset, said: "This project is seriously over budget and over deadline and still there is no end in sight.
"We must have a thorough investigation into what went wrong. Clearly this whole project has been poorly managed from the start and the Tories must be held publicly accountable."
Kilian Bourke, Lib Dem highways spokesperson said: "Local people are facing a huge financial liability. This busway is tens of millions of budget and the Conservatives have refused to renew their promise not to spend a penny of local taxpayers' money.
"So much at Shire Hall is hushed up. We cannot allow this elephant to be swept under the carpet. A thorough and open public inquiry is what is needed.
"We owe it to the people of this county to get to the bottom of what has gone wrong here."
