With TIF and 10:10 on the Agenda, Lib Dem Councillors left their cars at home last Tuesday and travelled to Shire Hall using a combination of bicycle, bus, train and walking.
Hardwick Division Councillor Fiona Whelan comments " As the Council were debating TIF and the need to reduce both congestion and carbon emissions in Cambridgeshire, we as a group felt that it was important to demonstrate our commitment to change. However we also wanted to highlight the issues some of our more rural constituents face if they do not drive."
To travel by bus from his home Gamlingay Councillor Sebastian Kindersley would have had to go to St Neots on Market Day (Thursday) and go back home a week later!
Cllr. Kilian Bourke adds, "We have asked our Council Colleagues from all parties to join us in this initiative for the next full Council Meeting in December"
Comments Fiona. "If we can't get in to the centre of Cambridge by Public Transport, then neither can they!"
