Cllr. Fiona Whelan Lib Dem Adult Social Services spokes comments, "Cambridgeshire has a complex network of services available to help the most vulnerable in our society. Unfortunately, these services are now under increasing threat due to two factors."
"Firstly, from the likely cutbacks to be made by central government and secondly from the problems being caused by constant overspending and poor financial control."
Cllr. Geoff Heathcock, Lib Dem Health spokes adds, "This has got to stop. For nearly a decade the Conservative Administration has failed to get this under control. The total overspend for this year is now forecast at 4.9% or £4.9 million pounds. Budgets must be a serious calculation of what officers believe from their experience over the last ten years will actually be spent; not a declaration of hope!"
"The consequences of these constant budgetary 'miscalculations' is fear and uncertainty for many of the most vulnerable in our community."
"Health and Adult Social Services work together more and more in trying to protect the most vulnerable. Whatever happens to one service quickly affects the other, making it more and more important that these problems are acted upon and in a robust manner."
