Cambridgeshire County Council Lib Dem group leader, David Jenkins, has challenged the Leader of the Council, Cllr Jill Tuck, to come clean about the cost of the Guided Bus. He recalled that one of Cllr Tuck's predecessors as leader, Cllr Keith Walters, had promised that the project would cost the Cambridgeshire tax payers nothing.
Cllr Jenkins has put the following to Call Tuck:
'I am concerned by recent behaviour relating to the County Council's contractual relationship with BAM Nuttall Ltd and the confidential agenda item relating to the Cambridgeshire Guided Bus which Cabinet discussed last month.
Can you, as Leader of the Council, confirm that the final cost to the Council for the Cambridgeshire Guided Bus, built in accordance with the agreed scope of 2007, will be £116.2 million as stated at the time.
In answering this question can you be mindful to include and identify the costs of any legal advice already received and expected to be received.'
