Council officials secured government money to provide free swimming for Ely youngsters and the over 60s, leaving those in Bottisham high and dry.
They announced that the sessions would take place at Ely's Paradise Pool but there was nothing for residents using Bottisham Sports Centre.
Liberal Democrat Councillor Robert Stevens, who represents Bottisham on East Cambridgeshire District Council, was determined villagers would not become the "poor relations".
He called on the council to set up the free sessions at Bottisham Sports Centre and now there will be eight sessions a week.
Cllr Stevens said: "The council represents the whole of East Cambridgeshire , not just Ely, and this scheme should be available to all.
"It is a national scheme launched by the government to encourage physical activity and greater fitness and everyone should have the chance to benefit."
Swimmers need to present identification proving age in order to get a free pass.
Details are available at the pool reception or on: www.bottishamvc.org/sportscentre
