Let's have a good, old-fashioned public debate, say Lib Dems

May 1, 2009 2:45 PM

Following the publication of their 12 page Manifesto for the forthcoming County Council elections on June 4th and the launch of their campaign website, www.libdemfuture.com Lib Dem Leader, David Jenkins is issuing a challenge to the Conservative Leader, Cllr. Jill Tuck to hold a public debate on the two parties' respective Manifestos for Cambridgeshire.

"The County Council is the largest employer in the county, the largest landowner and has an annual budget in excess of £800,000,000. These elections deserve to be taken seriously and deserve a serious public debate. I'm willing to meet Jill, anytime, anywhere and debate the issues at a public meeting or perhaps on a local radio station or in the press."

"Equally, my team of spokes are willing to hold similar public debates with their opposite numbers in the Tory County Council Cabinet, to debate in detail the issues facing us over the next four years. Transport. The Environment. Social Services. Education. Value for Money. Regional Development."
