A County Council officer has now advised us that BAM Nuttall will continue to be the contractor for the Cambridge Guided Bus Orchard Park link.
This contradicts communications from the Leader of the Council of earlier this month, which were confirmed by the Cabinet Member responsible, which advised that another contractor had been asked to take over this work.
Perhaps we know now who's building the guided bus but do we know who's running the Council? Is it the Tory Administration or is it the officers? Too often its seems to be the case that the Cabinet speaks one day and is then corrected some days later by officers.
More important though: what does this mean for completing the construction of the Busway and enabling the people of Cambridgeshire to use it?
Lib Dem group leader on the County Council David Jenkins said: 'Over £100 million of public money is going into this project and people are rightly asking when they can use it. Maybe it was and remains unpopular but we have gone ahead with it and the least we can expect is that it be delivered. Unfortunately it's going to be late; we know it's costing a lot of money and yet we're not getting all that was promised.'
