The problems caused by careless works in Linton
Contractors working for power company EDF dug up the pavement near Sweet Talk News in Linton, cut a cable, and installed a new connection. Fair enough, even though it's a narrow section of the High Street with no pavement on the other side. The work had to be done. But they didn't fill in the hole they had created.
Eventually they came back and filled in the hole, but didn't put the tarmac back! So for a fortnight, pedestrians were forced off the pavement, and anyone with a mobility buggy had to use the road.
Call for action
The Focus team called for the work to be completed urgently.
It was, but so carelessly that the water main under the High Street was broken. At least the Cambridge Water Company fixed that problem quickly
