With Ministry of Justice statistics putting Cambridge as one of the worst-hit areas in the East of England for home repossession orders Lib Dem campaigner for South East Cambridgeshire Jonathan Chatfield is calling for tax cuts for people and families on low and middle incomes, to help them pay their bills and mortgages.
Jonathan is backing Lib Dem Leader Nick Clegg's call for lowering taxes for those who need help while raising them for those who pollute the environment and closing the tax loopholes that benefit the wealthy.
Jonathan Chatfield the Lib Dem's parliamentary spokesperson for South East Cambridgeshire said:
"Vince Cable our shadow chancellor says tax cuts of 4 pence in the pound for ordinary people are affordable without additional borrowing if we trim spending and raise taxes for polluters and the wealthiest, as we propose.
"Families in Cambridgeshire have already faced huge rises in the price of food, electricity and gas.
"So now is the time to give ordinary people more of their money to help them through these difficult times."
