Lib Dems in Cambridgeshire have called for an end to secret policy meetings in the County Council.
The opposition Liberal Democrats have welcomed the move to finally publicly publish agendas for the private Policy Development Groups held by the Council but have said that the meetings themselves should be held in public.
Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, David Jenkins, commented:
"At long last the County Council has agreed to make the agendas for these policy groups public. This is a welcome first step to more transparent government. We have asked for it since PDGs were set up and we are delighted that our persistence has paid off.
"It is just a first step in improving the visibility of the process of government to the people of Cambridgeshire but the Council should go further.
"County Council policy should not be being made behind closed doors; the Policy Development Groups should meet in public."
