Jonathan Chatfield ready for a snap General Election
Jonathan Chatfield the Lib Dem hopeful in the General Election fight for South East Cambridgeshire will be joining thousands of party members at Brighton next week at what may well be the last major conference for the Lib Dems before a snap election this autumn.
"The theme of our conference is the environment," said Jonathan Chatfield.
"The big debates will focus on the need to cut down on pollution and to shift the burden of tax from income and onto greenhouse gas emissions.
"Our plans will mean national income tax will be cut from 20p to 16p in the pound and council tax will be scrapped. We will pay for these by shifting the tax burden onto the polluters such as the most polluting, gas-guzzling cars and onto aircraft that cause environmental damage.
"Over the next few weeks, people in South East Cambridgeshire will see all three party conferences in action. But whereas our conference delegates take real decisions on policy the Conservatives and Labour conferences just rubber stamp policies made up by faceless men in suits behind closed doors for the purpose of sound bits for the news media."
Jonathan will be accompanied at the conference by his campaign team and other key constituency activists.
