Conservative cuts threaten sports facilities

Jonathan Chatfield is campaigning to get the grant to Impington Village College restored so that important improvements to sports facilities can go ahead.

Without consulting local people or councillors, the portfolio-holder on South Cambs District Council responsible for sports facilities grants has decided to freeze all grants and carry out a 'review'.

This breaks a promise made three years ago to allocate funds toward the local swimming pool and sports facilities at Impington Village College.

The freeze on the money means that improvements to the swimming pool and fitness centre may not go ahead.

Jonathan Chatfield, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson said, "This is another disastrous decision by the Conservative administration at South Cambs."

"This decision puts improvements to sports facilities that are used by many people both in Histon and Impington and further afield in jeopardy. The Village College had been relying on this money to fund improvements, and we are now left waiting to find out if they will be able to go ahead or not."
