New bus arrangements for villages in the Linton and Balsham area have been announced by the County Council and began running at the end of July.
Cllr John Batchelor with the new No 19 bus service.
There is now a shuttle service; the No. 19 which connects the villages on both sides of the A1307 with Linton and Haverhill with a two hour service throughout the day.
County Councillor John Batchelor said "This new service means that for the first time residents of the villages can travel to Linton for shopping and to the Health Centre by using public transport."
The new service will travel from Haverhill through the Camps, Bartlow, Linton, Balsham, the villages around Balsham and up to Burrough Green.
The Conservative County Council will not put any extra money in to subsidise bus services, so with the new No. 19 service comes cuts to other services
The changes are particularly problematic for commuters who travel into Cambridge as they will not be able to arrive before 08.40am.
There are also other problems with the new service;
• The service for West Wickham is worse than before
• The two early buses on service 44 have stopped, meaning that passengers cannot arrive in Cambridge in the morning until 08.40.
• It would be useful if the new 19 service stopped opposite the Post Office and the Village Hall in Linton to allow people travelling from other villages easy access to the library and health centre.
• Apart from the bus to Newmarket, Weston Colville now only has one bus on a Saturday because it appears to be no longer served by the No. 16.
