Progress made on Milton cycle safety campaign

July 18, 2006 5:44 PM

Cllrs Hazel Smith and Richard Summerfields' petition to make the cycleway safer at the bottom of the Jane Coston bridge has been presented to the County and District's Traffic Management Area Joint Committee.

Milton councillors have asked for a traffic crossing or double yellow lines to be put in to allow cyclists to see traffic coming from the right.

Cllr Richard Summerfield said "Many people have had accidents or near misses at the crossing point, so something has to be done to make it safer for cyclists."

The Committee asked officers to explore additional road markings and parking restrictions to improve safety.
